Exclusions and Limitations 

The Long-Term Disability Plan does not cover any disabilities caused by, contributed to by, or resulting from: 

  • suicide, attempted suicide, or intentionally self-inflicted injury while sane or insane;
  • active participation in a riot;
  • commission of a felony;
  • a disability which is due to a pre-existing condition (refer to the "Pre-existing Condition" section within the individual Salary Continuation and LTD sections for more information);
  • the revocation, restriction or non-renewal of your license, permit, or certification necessary to perform the duties of your occupation, unless due solely to an injury or sickness that is covered by the plan;
  • any period of disability during which you are incarcerated in a penal or corrections institution; or
  • war or any act of war, whether declared or undeclared.

The Administrative Information section contains additional important information about your Long-Term Disability Plan benefits, including your rights as a plan participant under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA).
